Brief History

Rush Microfinance, initiated by the RUSH in 2003, has been a transformative project dedicated to empowering women through financial independence and entrepreneurship. Since its inception, the project has made a significant impact on the lives of over 800 women. The core of Rush Microfinance revolves around fostering economic self-sufficiency by engaging women in various business activities. These activities include selling groceries and participating in agriculture, equipping them with the tools and opportunities needed to improve their financial well-being.

One of the fundamental components of Rush Microfinance is the practice of borrowing and saving funds. Members of this initiative come together every Tuesday, demonstrating their commitment to economic growth and financial stability. During these gatherings, each member contributes 50 Kenyan shillings weekly. A portion of this money is set aside for savings, providing a financial safety net, while the rest is pooled as investment capital. This capital is then strategically utilized to support various businesses and agricultural ventures.

Rush Microfinance serves as a beacon of hope, giving women the means to not only save for a more secure future but also invest in income-generating activities. Through this project, the participants are not only creating opportunities for themselves but also contributing to the economic development of their communities.
